INSPIRATION
The Little Way of Virtue is inspired by the example of Jesus in the Bible, the Little Way of St Therese of Lisieux and the Christian pedagogy of St John Bosco.

The Little Way
The logo for the Little Way of Virtue program tells a story of footsteps leading to the cross. St. Therese and St. John Bosco lead us on the Little Way of Virtue, bring us closer to Christ and inspire us to live a more virtuous life.
When you are a child and you find yourself walking on the beach in the sand or in the deep snow, it helps if someone else goes before you and you can walk in their footsteps. As Christians, we try to follow and walk in the footsteps of Christ. The saints have walked that path already and reached the end goal. Turning to these holy and inspiring men and women for guidance seems like a good strategy to get closer to God and live a good life.

St Therese of Lisieux ( The Little Flower)
Virtue is a series of small acts done with great love. St. Thereseโs spiritual teaching is a simple and effective way to help children learn to live real Christian virtue out of love for God and our neighbor.
The three main aspects of the spirituality of St. Therese that have inspired the Little Way of Virtue Program are:
- THE LITTLE CHILD JESUS: Her name is sometimes referred to as St. Therese of the Little Child Jesus. Therese saw herself as a child of God. She liked to keep things simple and focus as a child does.
- THE LITTLE WAY: Thereseโs mission was to teach souls the โLittle Wayโ to Heaven. Her โlittle wayโ teaches us to do the ordinary things of life with extraordinary love.
- THE LITTLE FLOWER: Another name often ascribed to St. Therese is The Little Flower. Rose are often associated with her as an intercessory aid of blessings and graces.

St John Bosco
As the founder of the Salesians, St. John Bosco wrote a great deal about his ideas on education. He saw the education of youth as his lifeโs mission to help other educators learn an effective Christian pedagogy to teach young people how to live good lives.
Here are some of his writings and aspects of his pedagogy that have shaped the Little Way of Virtue Program:
- LET LOVE FOR GOD AND OTHERS MOVE THE STUDENTS. โCharity must be the mainspring of action.โ
- BE PATIENT WITH THE STUDENTS LIKE JESUS WAS PATIENT WITH THE APOSTLES HE TAUGHT.
- BE A KIND AND OPTIMISTIC EDUCATOR. A kind word or a glance does more to encourage a child than a severe reprimand.
- ALLOW FOR THE THOUGHTFULNESS OF YOUTH. Always be prudent.
